Reflecting on an extraordinarily original female Maker this week, Dutch Designer Emmy van Leersum was known for her Avant Garde jewellery and clothing. Emmy and her creative and life partner, Gijs Bakker, are renowned for radically democratising and fusing contemporary fashion, design and art. In describing her work Van Leersum said, ‘I'm not sure that my work really has that much to do with jewellery. It's more to do with people, with shapes; getting away from simply buying gold. That tradition has never appealed to me.
