Our bodies have so many stories wrapped up in them and sometimes when we see them - our bodies - we aren't seeing them, but rather seeing and experiencing the stories all over again. This can be true for lovely stories, but more often than not it's true for our less than lovely stories. The stories that are filled with pain and shame and trauma. So, of course, when we see our bodies we are going to associate them with dislike - no one likes to be reminded of their pain, shame and trauma. But maybe in that moment, we can heal the pain, shame and trauma just a little bit by gentle touches and kind eyes and whispers of acceptance and understanding saying "Without you, I wouldn't be here." . . . . .
