A black-browed albatross soars against the backdrop of a fiery sunset over Steeple Jason Island. Back in the early 2000s, a single grey-headed albatross was tracked by GPS at a sustained groundspeed of 75 mph for 9 hours while casually riding the tailwind of a powerful Antarctic storm. Even more impressive was how it continued to forage along the surface as if utterly unfazed by the lashing gales. The more I learn about the wild world of animals, the more I fall in love with our living planet in all its wonder and beauty. We are so lucky to call Earth home and share it with such an extraordinary array of living creatures. I only hope we learn to take better care of them and the delicate ecosystems they keep in balance. #albatross #islasmalvinas #falklands
