Thank you @miasiasymone for honoring myself and other hard working MUA’s in Atlanta. 🥺 I’ve been doing this 12 years and it’s nice to be recognized for all the seeds I’ve sown and all the sacrifices made to make other people feel their best. To outside people, being a makeup artist probably seems so glamorous but behind closed doors it’s a lot of pressure, gaslighting, rejection, time away from loved ones and people pleasing. You have to stay ready and constantly affirm yourself so that you can walk with confidence and aim to satisfy people who sometimes can’t be satisfied. I’m sure any service provider can relate, but makeup artistry is a different ministry. You come in such close contact with people and their struggles and it’s our jobs to build them back up even when we’ve been stepped on. I’ve experienced so much on this journey and I can honestly say being a MUA has made me a better person. Through my work, I found myself and my voice and trust me it wasn’t from the easy work. So I’m grateful to be seen and that’s why I will always speak up and be passionate about artists standing up for themselves. I’ve been very low key lately but that’s because I have allowed my life to flourish in other areas. As artists it’s SO EASY to get caught up in the lives of others and chase the next gig but I implore any artist reading this to PUT YOURSELF FIRST, always. The clients will always be there and so will the bag. Self care is self love & everything good comes from LOVE. Soon I will be transitioning into other ventures & will no longer be doing makeup, which is why the timing of this means so much more. I am so grateful for all the time, experiences and people God used to mold me into the woman I’ve become through a skill he gave me. I feel fully prepared mentally and emotionally for what’s coming next so I hope y’all stick around for what’s next. *Also if you read this far down you a real one* y’all know I can get longwinded. But seriously! I’m thankful! God is so good! Just when you think no one is paying attention he gives you a little wink! 😉
