TIPS FOR CELLULITE: 3 week game changer
Lots of people, esp. as we age, have at least some cellulite. 🍊Peau d’orange🍊
Some treatments are available that may reduce its appearance- but before spending on invasive or expensive treatments, what if I told you that there are things you can do from home that, with consistency, give results.
CELLULITE ANATOMY
Cellulite is caused by a buildup of fat underneath the skin. Fibrous connective cords (vertical connective tissue, imagine pillars) tether the skin to the underlying muscle, with the fat lying between. As fat cells accumulate, they push up against the skin, while the long fibrous cords pull down. This creates an uneven surface, or dimpling 🍊
Deep tissue massage and assisting lymphatic drainage will help shape, contour and minimise peau d’orange. You can do it from home. Use your hands or a tool like a body Gua Sha (I am using @holidermie )
TIPS FOR CELLULITE:
• the best way to tackle cellulite is to increase physical activity levels so that the body is burning, rather than storing, excess fat
• exercise, resistance training (increase the ratio of muscle to fat can make the skin firmer and smoother)
• massage
• hydration: water also helps the skin maintain a plump appearance, water helps to get rid of excess fat cells from the body and flushes out toxins. Hydrated skin is more supple and elastic!!
• the role of diet (vitamins A, C, and D, zinc, polyphenols, terpenoids, and silicon in fruits and vegetables, anti-inflammatory mono and polyunsaturated fats)
• caffeine applied topically can dehydrate fat cells and make cellulite less visible
