STAINED GLASS - DIRECTION OF THE HEART As monumental as the building is, nothing phased us as we set up to play in church a couple of nights ago. Why would it when only a day or two previous I stood inside the steps of an even more historic monuments - a Roman temple that sits in the centre of Taormina? In any case, Simple Minds are used to performing in situations out of the ordinary. The ordinary being clubs, theatres, arenas, sporting stadiums and festival fields the world over. The less ordinary being town squares, city parks, castles, stately homes, former factories, whisky distilleries, vineyards, Classical Greek Theatres, and last but not least - at the very top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. That’s right, over the decades we have been honoured to set up in all, with all in turn becoming part of our story, fixed at the forefront of our active memories As to why we were set up in a more than one thousand year old house of prayer? Those details will all be coming in due time. But I can say that it felt extra special to be within those ancient walls and playing some of our very own brand of 'songs of praise' - and we do have a few of them in our catalogue. The latest addition to that being the title song from Simple Minds forthcoming album - due for release in two weeks time and titled 'Direction Of The Heart.'
