Birdie. Today would be your second birthday. And there isn’t a single day that goes by where I don’t think about you and all the joy you brought into my life. Everyone had something that helped them get through the isolation of the pandemic... and for me, it was you. From our first photo until your last breath in my arms - I wouldn’t trade any of it. Love is the only thing that makes us real. It’s what builds out rooms in our heart and teaches us to hold space for others. And even though you aren’t here anymore, I know you taught me the patience and grace necessary to love everyone as one. It’s in this way that your legacy is alive in me and in everyone I love. I know this probably makes me sound crazy to folks on the internet, but I know I’ll see you again because, in one form or another, you’ve already shown up for me in countless sunsets under your favorite tree in Memorial Park.
