For me, this year has been a year of theoretical repose.⠀ The pace of most of the planet slowed down but the inner questioning that takes place inside my mind kept happening at hyperspeed.⠀ ⠀ This last stretch of 2020 has had an overall undertone of feeling burntout. I've worked a lot, yes, but after meditating on it I've come to the conclusion that what has exhausted me the most is this continuous rummination I’m immersed in. ⠀ ⠀ I constantly think about how can we support the most vulnerable in this unequal system. Not that much through charitable actions but through a rethinking and redesigning of our ways. ⠀ ⠀ On a daily basis I question the notion of reality, the nature of the human experience or the meaning or truth. I meditate about the function of art and the social responsibility of the artist, as artist and as human being. ⠀ ⠀ I try to shake the snowball of my mind as often as I can to reacommodate ideas and see things from different perspectives, but still I feel there are many constructions and inner dogmas that I want to keep dissolving. I see this moment as an opportunity to dive deeper for meaning. To be brave and face what I don’t want to face. To live and experience as consciously as I can.⠀ ⠀ On my stories I'm sharing a talk by Terence McKenna at Esalen Institute on 1992. This talk verbalises very eloquently much of my inner questioning. I’d really love to know Terence's impressions about this transition we are immersed in. I feel 2020 is just the beginning. An opening into something else.⠀ ⠀ Despite each of us experiencing this year in different ways, we are together in this transmutation process. May this last stretch of 2020 be gentle with us all. May we explore innovative ways to celebrate the holidays despite all the difficulties and the lockdown. May we receive the clarity we need to march towards a kinder and more harmonious future.⠀ ⠀ Sending much warmth your way, ⠀ ⠀ A.⠀ ⠀ ⠀ PS: The images above are from three of my new entoptic paintings. They are part of a group show organised by @_josegarciamx and @agoprojects that despite the covid restrictions can be visited by appointment at AGO Projects until January 15th. DM for details 🕊
