Many of us have heard of the flight or fight response, but have you heard of the lesser talked about fawn response? The fawn response is a conditioned trauma response where a person will result to people-pleasing and abandoning their true thoughts, needs, and convictions in order to establish a sense of safety and avoid conflict. And while it may reward us to respond this way in the moment by defusing any tension or gaining instant approval, it can lead to lifelong disconnection from our true selves and from how God individually created us to show up in this life.
