Today, LGBTQ+ youth are still more than twice as likely to experience homelessness as non-LGBTQ+ youth in the US. In many cases, that’s because they aren’t accepted by their biological families, are ostracized by the greater communities they’re born into, or otherwise fall through social safety nets that weren’t designed with them in mind. But, against these odds, LGBTQ+ people have long been finding and building their own chosen families and systems of support — reshaping ideas of love and care in our own images.
