It’s been two years since the violent insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, and election deniers still hold positions of power. More than 170 deniers of the 2020 election results won their midterm races for Congress and key statewide offices, according to @WashingtonPost. This is not normal. It’s not normal that lawmakers like @CoriBush, @AOC, and @SpeakerPelosi still have to go to work daily alongside colleagues whose actions nearly resulted in their injury or death. And it’s not normal that our highest legislative offices are held by people who are proud of that insurrection (watch the video). In late December, the House committee investigating the insurrection issued a final report, concluding: “The central cause of January 6th was one man, former President Donald Trump, who many others followed.” All those “others”—and their leader—still need to be held accountable.
