Burpees are a high-impact exercise with fast transitions and significant load on the lower back and knees. After 35 many people, especially with a sedentary lifestyle, experience reduced hip mobility, weak deep core muscles and knee issues. In this state, burpees can shift the load to the wrong muscles and increase the risk of injury. If you don’t have pain or limitations and your body is well prepared, has a strong core and stable pelvis, there’s nothing inherently wrong with burpees. However, a smart alternative or companion is slow, mindful work with the body and exercises that build pelvic and core stability.
