Five years ago I was in a state of, well, trauma. So for some reason (I know the reason- too much change! All at once! I could not cope!) the five books on my bedside table have been exactly the same ever since. Given that my son is now five, and I’ve written five books myself in that time, I decided I was ready for MORE CHANGE. So I read one. It’s excellent. The perfect book for that moment. It was sitting there all that time, the perfect book, inches from my head as I cried myself to sleep, texted my friends in the dark, read headlines about this strange virus that was in China and cuddled my son when he was scared of the dark. When I opened it a week ago, the first lock I ever cut of his hair was in an envelope inside, as was a note from @letticefranklin. I don’t think anyone will have such a perfect experience with a book but I do think that quite a lot so give it a go. You’ve probably all read it already, because it really is very good.
