Thank you @voguemagazine @steffyotka for including me in this series of spoken stories from queer American fashion designers. This headline, and being perceived as a “confident” person in general is interesting to me, because, while I don’t disagree with the descriptor, I also don’t understand it to be fully accurate without also talking about the dueling, intense, often crippling self doubt and an inner, anxious monologue that it always presents itself with. We are conditioned to think that self confidence is inherent within a person, but for me it has never been anything more than a choice to be made. Over and over and over and over. I am proud that I’ve found and fostered my own self worth and am grateful for the incredible community I have that has helped me realize and metabolize my human potential. I do not take the support I have received for granted for a single second. Happy pride, for real real ❤️
