Behind every animated film is a huge amount of work – and an incredible amount of talent! In a “Best of” programme, Berlinale Talents and its international alumni will present their work at the Fantoche – International Animation Film Festival (September 6 to 11, 2022) in Switzerland for the first time. Therefore, Florian Weghorn, programme manager Berlinale Talents, curated a selection of seven animation films that immersed from the Berlinale Talents alumni community, three of which were developed at one of the Berlinale Talents Labs and one which screened in the Berlinale Shorts section in 2019. For the screening on September 10, Florian will be on-site and joined by Anna Henckel-Donnersmark, section head Berlinale Shorts and a member of the Fantoche jury. The following films will be screening at Fantoche September 8 and 10, 2022: 👉 “Wild Beasts” by Marta Prokopová, Michal Blaško (2019) The film was developed by Marta in the Berlinale Talents Short Form Station 2017 and Michal took part in Berlinale Talents 2022. 👉 “Finding Home” by Maria Stanisheva (2022) The first episode of the docu-series was developed at our Short Form Station 2019. 👉 “Kingdom” by Tan Wei Keong (2018) The film screened in Berlinale Shorts 2019, and Tan took part in our Short Form Station 2022 with a new animation project. 👉 “Judy Free” by Che Tagyamon (2019) Che developed this project at our Short Form Station in 2019. 👉 “A Blanket of Words” (episode one from series: “A Piece of Peace”) by Jacobo Albán, Beltrán Pérez, Carlos Zerpa, Rodrigo García (2021) Carlos took part in Berlinale Talents in 2022. 👉 “The Fabric of You” by Josephine Lohoar Self (2019) Josehpine took part in Berlinale Talents in 2020. 👉 “Super Sohni” by Ammar Azziz (2022) Ammar was at Berlinale Talents in 2012 and was selected as a fellow for the Talents Footprints Mastercard Enablement Programme 2022 with this series.
