Physical activity that calls for your child to coordinate their whole body is not just a way for them to build strength and coordination, it’s also a key factor in their learning. While such movement involves motor skills, it sparks cognitive development, like planning and problem-solving, too. For example, drawing a pull toy along—like @alexismbrink little one is in this video—might just look like a fun way for your toddler to improve their fine and gross motor strength. However, as they participate in this activity, they’re making a lot of discoveries. As they decide where the toy goes, your child learns about cause and effect and what they can control. They begin to realize that to get an object attached to a string, rather than moving toward it, they can simply pull the string to bring the object to them. And, each time the toy falls over or snags another object, they have an opportunity to practice: ✨ Situational awareness ✨ Problem-solving ✨ Early independence ✨ Resilience When is the best time to offer your child a pull toy? After they can walk steadily while pushing an object, like a toy stroller or an empty box across the floor. Many toddlers are ready to begin pulling an item along as they walk when they’re between 15 and 18 months old. #Lovevery #ToddlerTok #Toddlerhood #Parenting
