I didn't know @kblock43 personally, but boy did it feel like I did. We were in a lot of the same circles, and I always figured we would cross paths one day. Sadly, that never happened. I never met a single person that had a bad thing to say about him, and in the car world that speaks volumes. I wasn't going to make a post, then I saw @antigravitybatteries video showing him on Mary Hill loops road. The very road we filmed motorcycle vs car drift battle 2 on. It hit me right in the feels and here we are. (Ps first turn in the vid is where I flipped my s13) The outpouring of positivity and love is absolutely amazing and at the same time heartbreaking. He meant so many things to so many people in the car world. This is what he meant to me. In 08 when the original gymkhana video dropped, I had it on repeat, i wasnt a car guy then, I was dude with an 04 sti and it struck all the chords. What an insane bit of inspiration that was. I started trying to drift my sti in parking lots at 4am with @gavtronzero and @tbrownvisuals (very poorly I might add), and on the skid pad during track days. I wanted to be like Block. Fast forward a year and that turned into my love and passion for drifting. Fast forward 2 more years and I got a chance to actually be like Block. Filming mvcdb 2 made all of us feel like we had tapped into a gymkhana video, and were channeling our inner #hhic. He was our muse, our inspiration to make something epic. If a take was bad, i would always think to my self, what would Ken do? The two videos after that, and now my entire career in drifting got kick started by a guy on the internet I never met. How legendary do you have to be to be the starting point of someone's career without having ever met or interacted with them? That's Ken's legacy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. And so the stories keep pouring into my screen of how many people Ken raised up, helped, inspired, and was an amazing ambassador to cars and car folks in general.
