Pharoah Sanders; a Titan of music composition and performance has left us 😓❤️ but has given to us an immense gift of recordings that have and will continue to enrich and guide and heal our spirit. Playing with Pharoah in New York City made me realize that music and art, love and friendship are the only things that are REAL in this world. I really got along with him on this level as well; the hyper curiosity of the magic of pure sound. His quote—-“I’ve always been like that, especially when I was small. I used to love hearing old car doors squeaking. Maybe if it’s something you’re really into, then maybe you’ll get a sound like that so I’m always trying to make something that might sound bad sound beautiful in some way. I’m a person who just starts playing anything I want to play, and make it turn out to be maybe some beautiful music.” I’ll leave it with that even though there is so much more to say.
