BTS photos from the video for @arkellsmusic and @teganandsara song "Teenage Tears" (released last week, streaming everywhere). We shot it a couple hours after the Tegan & Sara video on the swing set (Faded Like a Feeling)... which is why I'm wearing the same clothes:) As you can see by the photos, I use pretty simple gear. A $100 tripod, and the Sony FX3 camera, and a Ronin RS2 gimbal. We had a couple Sky Panel lights on wheels, and I used my DJI Raven Eye to send a video signal to my iPad (monitor). You may also notice (in the photo of the back of the camera) that I shot at 30fps (frames per second) instead of the more "cinematic" 24fps. That's because I shot them singing a faster version of their song (125%), and then in post I slowed the video footage down by 80% (from 30fps to 24fps) so that it would match with the original track speed. This was to give the image a bit of a dreamy vibe. This concept (of shooting at the mall) was Tegan's (and then Sara added a bunch of cool ideas too), and after searching for an appropriate location, Manager Ash landed on this one - which is @kingsgatemall.mtpleasant I had various treatments of how to execute this video, but it wasn't until the morning of the shoot that I presented Max with this concept (opening with static images, and various static shots of him, before a single tracking shot that takes him to the meeting point, then repeating with T&S etc). After showing him my "text treatment" - he was like, this is perfect! Originally they were going to meet at a piano in the middle of the mall, but at the last moment we switched to a mall bench - which I think worked even better.
