Circa 2016. Thanks to Amazon photos I was reminded of this long forgotten image. It’s really interesting how your perception of yourself can change. This is a really painful memory for me. Looking at the picture I can remember how ugly I felt, and how constantly I compared myself to others. I took this pic too see if my boobs were perky enough to wear a camisole instead of a bra, like so many people had started doing. Back then I thought, “I can’t do this” A) My hair = too short and rough. B) My face = ewww double chin I can’t look (not even in this picture!) C) My boobs = too saggy and too big and too slutty D) My belly = I could never look at or think about that thing E) My size = I was unbearably fat. So much so I refused to wear my correct size (20) jeans, so I’d buy size 18 treggings so I could feel slimmer as I uncomfortably squashed myself inside. Now, looking at this I actually think I look f***in great! Who is this beautiful girl? Hello👋🏽 But back then I couldn’t see it. All I could see was how I didn’t look like the perfect size 12, Coca Cola bodied, silky waved caramel Queen I should be. And every difference made me feel insecure and small. All these thoughts led me to floods of tears. I ended up leaving the changing room, and I never brought this camisole. There are still some days I cry, because life can be a lot sometimes. But there are so many fabulous things I see in this photo now. My full lips, fabulous cleavage, and a dewy glow, I’d kill for right now! Lol With our bodies, we could spend forever dwelling in the moments we feel imperfect. But in each of those moments there is always a beauty just waiting to be found.
