What we know to be time is really motion. It’s the cycle and rhythm of our planet moving around the sun and through our galaxy. This dance with our energy source, the Sun, is encoded in our bodies, mirrored within each cell, and each mitochondria. We’re alive within a living spiral. Today, in the Northern Hemisphere, we honor the rest within ourselves, we honor the darkness that sustains life, the fertile darkness that nourishes our soul. We honor our ancestors and all the many life forms to whom we owe this life too, and without whom there would be no present time, no rhythm danced in the darkness. What a beautiful planet we are. On this Winter Solstice lets honor the motion of 13.7 billion years that spirals within us, and the present moment we get to be expressed within. May we all find rest, rejuvenation, and the life that is reborn in the soil of darkness.
