Using our furniture outside...
We get asked about this a LOT! So I thought it might help to explain how it works.
We have some specific 'outdoor' furniture, made from bamboo and rattan etc, which is fairly happy outdoors in most circumstances (although not if it's very wet for obvious reasons).
But we often show our upholstered ranges outdoors too. We love our furniture outdoors and it makes a great addition to your outdoor drinks reception. But we do ask you just to use common sense and respect it!
Generally speaking, we ask you to treat our furniture as you would your own lounge furniture. It is not designed to be outdoors, get wet feet, or sit out in the rain or overnight. So it's quite simple. If you tell us you would like to use our furniture outside, we will grant you permission to do so, on the basis that a few conditions are met.
1. If the intention is for it to be completely outside (no cover) and there is even a hint of rain forecast - it's a no! If it is completely dry and the ground is dry (no rain the day before), then it's fine during the day.
2. If you have cover but no floor (as shown here), we are happy for it to be outside during the day only.
3. In either situation - It MUST be brought inside once the damp descends, usually around 8-9pm in the summer. It cannot be left on damp grass overnight, but a marquee with flooring is fine.
3. If your cover is open-sided, it must be taken inside where there are sides! Pulling it into the middle of the tent is not enough protection - we have experienced the results of this and it wasn't pretty.
4. You MUST ensure you have the man-power on site to move it inside when needed. Venue staff, event crew or groomsmen could do this. We don't mind who - as long as it's planned!
5. Just covering upholstery with tarpaulins is not 'undercover'!
We have very intentionally chosen furniture which is not heavy. Most people can carry our armchairs easily on their own, and many can actually lift our sofas on their own (not that I would recommend this!). So it's much easier than you might think.
So, yes, you may use our furniture outside, but PLEASE let us know if that is your intention so we can help you plan.
