Underwater is the most peaceful place in the world for me, but I recognise that for many it can be scary or stressful. When we confront the unknown, or ‘gaze into the abyss’, the experience can be truly unnerving. There is a way to regain equanimity and confidence even in these extreme situations, and it’s a method grounded in physiological science and understanding of the body and mind.
