After much anticipation, research, and physical training I am finally returning for the third time to the Darien Gap. We are searching for endangered and vulnerable tree species to gather their seeds and map them for future gathering. We must trek deep into the jungle to search for trees that may not still exist. The Darien Gap is one of the most biodiverse places on earth and its protection is of the utmost importance to the future of our climate. These places are often heavily exploited for economic gain and I fear that if we don’t gather and reforest these essential species now, that in years to come it may be too late. Over the past six years I have been working to reforest these trees ands it’s become increasingly more difficult each time. Photo @nickmehedin
