REFINEMENT AND NOT TRANSFORMATION. This is an overarching principle that me and my ceramist adopt in the majority of cases that we do. As cosmetic dentists, we are trained to problem solve - to find out what’s wrong with the smile. But it's equally as important to find out what is naturally RIGHT about the smile. It's only then that we have a full picture. It then allows us to keep the essence of the smile, and tweak and finesse it, just that bit more. And the end result always ends up looking like you - just a naturally better version of yourself. 🔎 Let’s have a closer look at this particular makeover where you see this principle in play. What’s right? The smile is naturally beautiful - the shapes are about right and the client likes the softness and mildly rounded corners of the teeth - the gums are more or less in the right position. What’s not right ? The teeth have become translucent over the years and become thin on the edges, which she wanted us to restore so that it did now look ‘shadowy’ in appearance. She also wanted a slightly bolder smile as she felt her teeth were on the smaller side and the back teeth were not wide enough for her. She wanted us to broaden the smile.. In the after image, you see that the essence of the smile remains the same. We kept all that was right about the smile and made minor tweaks to meet her expectations. We achieved this using minor gum recontouring and 10 porcelain veneers. The end result is a smile that is whiter, fuller and bolder but still very much her. 🥰What we are doing here is so special and unique.each case is unique and while the principles remain the same, no two clients ever leave with the same cookie cutter smile in our hands.
