The saying is translated from the Japanese phrase "Banpen Fugyo" 万変不驚; referenced from the teachings of Hakuun Ryu which I first learned in martial arts many years ago. I've been thinking about this phrase lately. The world is always in a state of change and calamity. Once we understand and expect this then we will never be caught off guard and instead face all outcomes with steadfastness. In other words, we will be ready to enjoy what life throws our way. Also...
