Today we reflect on freedom and dignity. We dream of safety and democracy. And we fight against white supremacy, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, and sexism. We reject efforts to harm and erase already marginalized kids, families, and communities. As @TheNapMinistry teaches us: rest is a revolution. We take today as an invitation to connect with loved ones and celebrate family ties. We rest so that we continue to fight for LGBTQIA+ rights, equity, and justice. We reflect on the importance of education for our democracy. Every child deserves to be safe at school and at home — and we all must work to shape the society we live in, because our collective future depends on it. [Image description: A black and white image of James Baldwin, a Black man wearing a white shirt and tie is in the lower right-hand corner. There is white text on a black background that says, “We can disagree and still love each other unless your disagreement is rooted in my oppression and denial of my humanity and right to exist.” Below in smaller font, it says, “James Baldwin, 1924–1987, Black LGBTQ+ Author and Activist.” In the lower-left corner, there is the GLSEN logo in white with a yellow “E” and “glsen.org.”]
