10 years ago on my birthday, I was days removed from a divorce that had ripped my heart in pieces. I was far away from the place I called home, surrounded by people that I didn’t know. This birthday, I’m days removed from a wedding anniversary to a woman I love and who loves me despite my scars. Again I find myself far away from home surrounded by people that I don’t know; however, this time it’s for reasons that I celebrate—working on not just one, but two incredible projects. I could never have imagined the journey I’ve taken over these past 10 years. And so to the teachers, the agents, the lovers, and the friends who have met me in the different places of my journey, I say thank you—thank you for connecting with the broken parts of me, for gifting healing, and encouragement. I hold deep fondness for each of you. Let’s walk a little further.
