My wife and I are different in many, many ways, and out of all the things I do that annoy her (and there are quite a few) one of the most annoying is apparently that I am very good at going back to sleep. I mean, don't get me wrong, I think I'm above average at going to sleep in general. But waking up and going BACK to sleep is kind of my specialty. My wife, on the other hand? Not so much. I sleep through my jetlag, she has to stay awake through hers. So this morning when I woke up at 8am she had already been up for three hours, had breakfast, gone to the gym and was ready for the day. Me? Not so much. I felt like I was coming put of hibernation and could have used a steady breakfast and maybe a nap before being ready for anything at all. But since I didn't have much choice in the matter, I rarely ever do, we went out anyway. We took a walk, met some friends and then went to the Museum of Modern Art. Which was great, of course. And I behaved pretty good I think, considering the circumstances. But sure: I exited the hotel elevator at the wrong floor twice. And when we got to the street I almost got hit by a car. And at one point I stopped and asked a very nice man on the sidewalk for directions to the museum, and he looked at me a little confused, pointed at the sign above his head, and said: "Sir. It's here." I then proceeded by going to the place where you check in your coat to show my ticket, and mistook the gift shop for the actual museum. But ANYWAY: The museum had an absolutely fantastic exhibition about Guillermo del Toro and the making of the movie Pinocchio. Among other things, there was this scheduling board from the production. My wife was standing there looking at it, and one of our friends asked: "Does Fredrik use a system like this when he plans his books?" My wife looked very seriously at our friend, pointed at the board and said: "See all these little notes? Imagine there was a tornado in here. That's what the inside of Fredrik's head is like."
