Time to repost this 😊 So I spent an hour on the phone with my colleague @kcklatt today about how much pseudoscience crap there is on social media - put out by medical professionals, physicians, dietitians, you name it. How on earth can we expect patients to trust the medical system when health professionals are selling/advocating for non evidence based supplements or treatments? Who else is tired of this? Can we fix it? I feel like we can! Our community of science based health professionals is continuously growing on social media. I can think of so many amazing expert pseudoscience debunkers like @drjengunter @ranellamd @drmarthagulati @kcklatt @drnadolsky @dr__guess @drryanmarino @drheatherirobundamd @yonifreedhoff @dr.mauriciogonzalez @doctor.mike @foodsciencebabe @charlotteparler @aaron_kubal @drreneeparo @dr_cuterus to name a few. And every physician/scientist I have interviewed on @wellnessfactvsfiction has continuously provided fantastic science based, factual content for our listeners. I actually think it’s incredible to see more and more physicians, scientists, and healthcare providers advocating for more rigorous and accurate scientific communication. And we know that doesn’t mean just putting a PMID citation in your post - bc unfortunately so many quacks do that too 😒 But - I’m hopeful we can keep moving the needle. We can gain patients trust - by continuing to advocate for better from our colleagues. We can continue to have conversations about levels of evidence, understanding limitations and strength of evidence, and discussing the nuance in between. I think we can make this a trend yall. Check out the people I just mentioned - they are solid 👍 As well as everyone I’ve interviewed on @wellnessfactvsfiction Who wants to make this trend stick?
