With millions of people visiting national parks, it’s important to ensure that the lands remain vibrant habitats for the wildlife that call the park home. One way visitors can help is by staying on the trail while exploring. Service Corps crews play a vital role in keeping the trails well-marked and clear of obstructions Previously, NPF supported trail maintenance work by @americanconservationexperience service corps members at @saguaronationalpark. In total 29 miles of trails — 6.5 miles of the Manning Camp Trail and 22.5 miles in the high country of Saguaro National Park’s Rincon Mountain District — were restored. Crew members hand pulled Buffelgrass (which is a threat to native species in the park and fire hazard) across 3.6 acres in the park and learned a range of natural resource management techniques, including invasive plant removal skills, ecological restoration skills, and plant monitoring. 📷: Dawn Kish
