NEW WORK ‘Joy’ / @sammhenshaw The last video to accompany Samm’s debut album ‘Untidy Soul’. The series continues on 16mm but for this episode Samm and Jim wanted to shoot monochrome. I still have a lot of areas to explore and understand with B&W image making - for Joy we decided we wanted the film to be clean and classy whilst maintaining the texture that film has and timeless intrigue of monochrome - we shot 250D and graded to BW with the amazing Alex Gregory - we employed a classic high key lighting for the car interiors looking for good exposure and shape - in prep for the grade I was looking at Robert Mapplethorpe.
