“Defensive nature” sculpture + “The Snakes Came Back” video shown for my Honors critique in school 🤍 The text in the images is from a poem I tried to write for several years. I kept trying to find words to make sense of a grief experience, but they always felt cheap. It was hard to distill a layered, complex, and confusing time into a neat form. Processing pain isn’t neat, grief isn’t neat, it makes sense to me for the art to reflect this messiness. I love how this turned out, and to see complex experiences become larger than life through making. Alsoooo the feeling of being like “OH YA this is a direction I wanna keep going in. I’m realizing a creative vision that’s I’ve been reaching towards for years,” is so cool
