In the latter part of the third quarter of 2022, we were invited to participate in a #LiveAgain campaign with @meetsouthafrica. We had no idea of what to expect during this 7 day 6 night experience but we were gamed for everything. So when we learned that we were hot air ballooning, it was an excitement of this is finally happening as it was a long time coming. Despite, the fear of heights, we decided to lean in and what an experience it was. We still get excited on just the thought of hot air ballooning in the country of South Africa. Here’s six things we learned about hot air ballooning: 📍Hot air balloon flights typically occur in the early mornings due to the consistency of stable weather. 📍The average hot air ballon flight is an hour. 📍During a hot air balloon flight there is no sensation of movement or speed. Nor is there any turbulence as hot air balloons flow with the wind versus against it. 📍Hot air balloons can’t be steered. However, some directional control is possible by ascending and descending into air currents going in a different direction. As the pilot has the ability to raise or lower the temperature inside the balloon. 📍People who suffer with acrophobia may very well be able to overcome their fears as hot air balloon flights are very gentle and stable. Being that you start from the ground and gently lift up, rather than looking over an edge of a cliff. Not one time was there a trigger of acrophobia for anyone during the flight. 📍Attire matters... When hot air ballooning it is in your best interest to wear comfortable clothing. Heels, wedges, and dresses are beautiful but not for a hot air balloon experience. As you will have to climb in and out of the hot air balloon basket. This was something we had to learn the hard way. ☺️ Thinking of hot air ballooning in the near future?
