A record surge of more than 78.3 million salmon returned this summer to Bristol Bay in Alaska. Studies have found that Bristol Bay sockeye generally do better in years when water temperatures climb a few degrees, but will the warming climate eventually be too much? “There’s a tipping point somewhere,” says a University of Washington fishery scientist.
