Been a minute since I've posted, I've been writing new things! I thought I'd start sharing some of my thoughts on writing and producing film/TV... my habits, my advice, my stumbles, lessons I’ve learned, new things I (think I) figure out. In today's edition -- THE FIRST 8 PAGES: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For me, the first 8 pages are all about finding my characters' voices, the tone, the pacing, the vibe, how I want the reader to experience the story, etc. And making sure it FLOWS. It's all about the flow! Especially because if someone reading your script isn't into the first 8 pages (or really the first 3) you've probably lost them already. For me, these first 8 pages take a long ass time. The first 8 pages of a brand new script (as opposed to like, episode 11 of a show) can sometimes take a couple weeks or more.
