Perfection doesn’t exist in parenting. There are no experts. Only parents who are either intentional or not. Parents who are reflective or non-reflective. Parents who apologize, take ownership, and have emotional intelligence. And parents who don’t. Parenting was never supposed to be easy for good parents. We don’t get to choose if we have help from nearby family. We don’t get to choose if both partners have to work full-time jobs. The only thing we do choose is how we show up for our children. There’s no way to show up perfectly, but there are many ways to be there physically and emotionally.
