How many sea animals do you see in the video? Which one is your favorite? 1️⃣ Andean Flamingos 2️⃣ Humboldt Penguins 3️⃣ Sea Birds 4️⃣ South American Sea Lions 5️⃣ Jelly Fish 6️⃣ Orange Star Fish Must-See in Peru: The Paracas National Reserve and the Islas Ballestas The Ballestas Islands are home to a diverse population of animals. There are hundreds of thousands of sea birds (including Peruvian Boobies, Terns, Pelicans, Vultures, and Guanays). There are more than 160 species of marine birds and the islands are known as the “poor man’s Galapagos.” All of those birds create a lot of guano (the Quechua word for 💩). Turns out the excrement is high in nitrogen, phosphate, and potassium, which makes it a highly prized fertilizer. During the Inca Empire, it was used as a fertilizer, and later, in the 19th and 20th centuries, guano from the islands was exported to Europe. Did you catch the 595-foot tall Candelabra? The exact age of the prehistoric geoglyph is unknown and who constructed it also remains a mystery. #peru #discoverperu #ballestasislands #islasballestas #paracas #seabirds #marinebirds #humboldtpenguins #penguins #protectedwildlife #naturalhabitat
