salmon yaki onigiri tryna make the 🍙 emoji with a lil extra ✨something something✨ i remember having salmon onigiri for the first time in Japan at 7 eleven 🤣 it was difficult to chose which flavours to go for as I was quite the picky eater, but salmon was a safe bet so I went for it, happy i did cus it was so simple yet so yummm yaki onigiri is basically grilled rice balls (yaki meaning grilled) covered in a soy glaze. It’s super delicious as you have that crispy savoury but slightly sweet outside plus that fluffy and flavourful filling 😩🤌🏽 Ingredients: 1 cooked salmon (seasoned slightly with salt) 1 tbsp kewpie mayo 1 tbsp sriracha 1 tbsp soy 1 tbsp mirin 0.5 tbsp sake 1 cup cooked sushi rice salt n water for when moulding seaweed black sesame seeds (optional) method: 1. mix kewpie mayo and sriracha with salmon to make the spicy salmon filling 2. wet hands with water, add some salt so to season the rice while moulding 3. add filling in the middle, then form a ball, then press down on the sides to form a triangle. 4. in a pan over med-high heat, add some butter or oil, then the onigiri 5. spread sauce on top, then flip. Add sauce on other side.
