Since the bloodshed began in Ukraine, a total of 4.71 million refugees have crossed into Poland. The Polish people have been so steadfast in opening their borders to anyone making the crossing, even without documents. Today I made my third visit to border towns to meet refugee children in Bedzin and Czeladz. It is heartbreaking to see so many of them here without parents, their families broken apart by the appalling Russian invasion. There are 600 people from Ukraine living in Czedlaz alone, under the watchful eye of deputy mayor Elżbieta Dmitruk, who welcomed us. In Bedzin, we met 82 children evacuated from Obukhiv in Ukraine without their parents. My charity @sarahs_trust_ has sent lorry loads of supplies of essentials and treats thanks to wonderful UK donors. We are also providing computers to support the children’s schooling, and I brought some Paddington Bear toys to share with them. It is an honour to be here and I promised some of the people I met to share this message with the world: an end to war. I urge people back home in Britain to support charities working to support these refugees.
