Does budgeting your finances give you anxiety? Well, imagine how a kid feels. Financial literacy is an essential life skill—and I can tell you, despite being “in school” for 25-plus years, I didn’t receive a single class in the subject. Help equip your kid with the basics at a very young age. A quick and simple way (even for us adults) to think about money is the Three Bucket Rule: Kids can start budgeting by thinking about their allowance in three categories or buckets: Spend – Save – Share Here’s what you can share with kids (or even adults) for the 3 buckets: 🪣 Spend: Money for small fun things I want now—like snacks, small toys, or apps/games. I’ll use this bucket for weekly treats or little rewards. 🪣 Save: This is for bigger goals—like a new bike, a trip, or something I really want later. I’ll add to this bucket over time and watch it grow. 🪣 Share: This is for giving to others—like donating to a charity, helping someone in need, or supporting a cause I care about. It’s my way of giving back
