Finding a good tailor.
At 5’2”, you can imagine how much I have to get altered. The problem is that I procrastinate. I have a bag in the corner of my closet and it’s always full of items slated for the tailor. They sit there for weeks (sometimes months) before I take them in. The turnaround time is a reasonable two weeks but do I pick them up on schedule? 😂
James (who took over Tony’s shop years ago) is an expert and can manage the most difficult operations. Shoulder adjustments, changing the lining, adding pockets, nipping waists, and even creating bespoke items. Finding a good tailor isn’t easy but if you ask the high end designer shops who they send their complicated jobs to, you’ll find the best ones. That’s how I found @antoniostailor and team.
Pic 1:
The jacket was too large in the shoulders so I had them taken in.
It’s an old Comme des Garçons from The Real Real.
And the skirt didn’t have pockets but I need them (otherwise, what am I do with my hands?!) so we added them.
Pic 2:
Very old Prada jacket that I wanted a little less boxy. Nipped at the sides.
Pic 3:
Finally getting my Row Ariane coat adjusted - hemming and bringing in the waist ever so slightly to give it some shape.
Pic 4:
The Row Egli cords. Massive even in a size 2. Waist coming in and a much needed hem as well.
