Happy one year (and a few weeks - who’s counting!) anniversary to this Modern Love story. Here’s little look back at that happy day... 1. First sighting of my name in print! My heart!!! 💓💓 2. Up early walking to the newspaper store in my fave nightie and cardi, a look inspired by... 3. Carrie, also up early to check her NYTimes book review. Her self-involvement in this episode is truly harrowing! This look, however, remains iconic! 4. Taking in the moment, having a little cry. At this point I’d already started receiving what would be hundreds of emails from readers sharing kind words and their own stories of anxious and secure love. I wish I could share them since they were each truly so thoughtful and beautiful but getting back in touch with everyone to ask their permission would be le nightmare so just imagine some really lovely people writing really lovely things! 5. The man, the muse, the human humming bird himself 🥹✨ 6. As a sober Brit there is only one way to celebrate happy news...Picnic!! 🧺 7. Homemade cake made by the sweetest @jluwallace 🍰 8, 9 &10. I remember thinking “life surely can’t get any better than this” and then Cleopatra and Frankenstein came out and, somehow, it did 💐 I never, ever take for granted what a gift it is to have readers (it’s all I longed for during many years of writing and waiting).
