April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month...⁣ So here is some awareness for y’all ⬆️⁣ ⁣ Swipe for some examples of what you *SHOULD NOT* do, when someone, whomever they may be, finally finds the courage to share their truth & pain. One of the worst things one could do is trigger survivors with the perp or potential perps name in their inbox/screens etc.⁣ ⁣ It’s been a rough week. 😔😮‍💨⁣ ⁣ *Please share this post far & wide to let all survivors know*:⁣ - they are believed⁣ - supported⁣ - loved ⁣ - WORTHY of happiness ⁣ And are not to absolutely not to blame! 🌸⁣ ⁣ That there are *so* many people (me obviously included!) who *do* believe you! Everyone deserves to live their truth, live unapologetically and freely! We all do.⁣ ⁣ I’m thankful for the support, love, encouragement & all the people who expressed & shared how proud they are/were of me on my last post. The trauma (& my physical, ongoing spinal injury + mental pain as a result of DV, FV & IPV that I will live with every moment of every day, for the rest of my life - including some upcoming major surgeries) is my now forever burden to bare but I will not remain silent any longer!⁣ ⁣ Remember: “Evil thrives in Silence. Behaviour unspoken, behaviour ignored is behaviour endorsed” - @tamepunk⁣ ⁣ Some staggering statistics below ⬇️:⁣ - 18 women & approx 8 children have been killed by IPV in Aus in 2022 alone (& this is only the 18th week of the year!! 🤬😔) [@safestepsfv @tarangchawla] @abcnews_au] - at least 10 women are hospitalised PER day due to IPV or FV [@ourwatch]⁣ - Women, Fem & NB disabled peoples are at least 2x more likely to experience Sexual & IPV [@wwda_au @womenwithdisabilitiesvic]⁣ - at least 1 in 3 LGBTIA+ people experience violence from a partner, ex-partner or family member [@aconnsw]⁣ - Queer / Trans & GD / LGBTIQA+ 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ experience even higher rates. They are 4-6x more likely to experience any form of violence [@ucla].
