Just finished a really humbling volunteer shift. Didn’t do it last year obviously due to the pandemic but happy to get back to it this year. You definitely meet some characters in these homes & keeps me thinking how they even ended up there in the first place. So many stories, most of them dark & unhappy ones, but seeing their faces & knowing they are grateful for that home, for that plate of food, makes it all worth it. This year was extra special as the home where these residents live was once the home of one of my favorite ever artists, Robert Mapplethorpe, right before he died.
