Often I’m asked, as many photographers are, what it is that I enjoy shooting the most. I think it boils down to eclectic, yet unified crowds. Nothing brings NYC together like old subway cars. Covid really put a damper on these nostalgia rides, and my schedule hadn’t allowed me to make any of the @nytransitmuseum trips this year, but man was I glad to make it out to the parade of trains event down in Brighton Beach this afternoon. I’m not sure I can even call myself a true railfan after some of the conversations I’ve overheard at these outings. But it sure is fun to capture whatever that wonder is about old machinery in a modern landscape. Hope these rides carry on forever!
