Spoke to the Los Angeles Blade this week about how @dr_oz & @drmarkhyman are both a symptom of broader & more systemic problems in our healthcare system. We need to hold physicians accountable who are profiting off of pseudoscience & misinformation. How are patients supposed to trust our traditional healthcare system, when huge hospital systems like @clevelandclinic associate with Mark Hyman - who openly sells pseudoscientific and predatory “detoxes” on his website? Or how @stanford associates with @hubermanlab - who promotes sodium supplements to make money by misrepresenting science in ways that can cause harm to his millions of podcast listeners- directly against recommendations by the American Heart Association, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Society for Preventive Cardiology. Or how harvard is associated with @davidsinclairphd - who is constantly profiting off of pseudoscience and promoting recommendations which go against major medical society guidelines. So no- it’s not the publics fault, they are looking for solutions to health problems, & all of these predatory “scientists” are there to take advantage of them. There are MANY issues with our traditional healthcare system, which is fractured in so many ways and needs major overhaul. But making up false diagnoses, making up fake cures to made up diagnoses, and peddling pseudoscience for profit is *not* the solution.
