We officially (and finally!) open @btlmusical tonight! I want to thank @daryl_roth @thejeffcalhoun @jodipicoult @samanthavanleer @timmcdonaldnyc @samselanderson and @djsalisbury.nowandthen for their collaboration on Between the Lines. Thank you to this extraordinary cast and crew for your fluid collaboration and for suiting up & showing up and bringing this show to life in the face of adversity. Truly every department fit a Broadway show into an Off-Broadway house and I couldn’t be more proud of us! Lastly but most emphatically, I want to thank my insanely gifted assistant, @itsgabydiaz, who kept me level and thinking outside the box. The spirit of this show is one of true perseverance, deep letting go, and rolling with it. @kateoboyleanderson wears a bracelet with the inscription “BTLAAO” (Between the Lines, Against All Odds), and it certainly applies here. After the fastest and most furious rehearsal process on this new musical, we had Covid, Norovirus, and even everyday sickness that brought this production to its knees. But against all odds, we prevailed thanks to OUR INCREDIBLE SWINGS @aubreymatalon @dan_jhoy @breathoffreshayers #martinlandry and the stellar team of @kprostage @tree_bitch69 and everyone at @daryl_roth productions. Tonight, we celebrate not just our show, but making theater in this crazy time. Here’s to “BTLAAO” or, in this case, “Being the Light Against All Odds”. Merde!
