It’s incredible the power we allow words to have over us, over the way we act, the places we go, things we wear and the way we feel about our bodies. Someone some day decided fat, saggy, scarred, big, loose were bad words when in reality they’re just descriptors. When we’re so focused on what other people are saying about our bodies or what we’re saying to ourselves, we need to look at why we’re so upset over those words. They don’t need to hold that much power, they don’t need to mean anything bad or make you feel less than - they’re not bad words, they’re not good words, they just are. Just like that apple is red, or that orange is orange. We can make a conscious decision in our lives that those words don’t mean anything other than what they are; words. When we spend so much time focusing on telling people saying things like fat or big or saggy are not nice or unkind things to say we keep giving those words (and the societal values they stem from) power, when we stop seeing those words as bad we start seeing our bodies and other people as so much more. Stop giving power to those bullshit standards and start giving power to yourself and the love you have for you and those around you. 💛
