We’re thrilled to share that Xu Bing’s two documentary films will be screened at King’s College London on August 24 (12–2pm) GMT, presents by @east2046_festival Xu Bing Tianshu Rocket (27 min) – capturing the journey from the project’s 2019 launch to the maiden flight of an art rocket in 2021, including an unexpected 0.3-second incident that left a crater and “stardust” in the Gobi Desert. Satellite Lake: Cosmic Reflections (17 min) – the first stop-motion animation filmed in outer space with an expired satellite, telling the tender, cosmic tale of a lonely “little space man.” Following the screenings, Xu Bing will join remotely to introduce the Xu Bing Space Art Residency Program, the first artistic satellite program in human history.
